Day 19

Today is Betty's shoot at Boat Quay.

Mmm, Macdonald's for breakfast...

Anyway. Since Hanes was having class we started filming first. First we had to deal with the sun throwing temper tantrums; one moment it'd scurry behind the clouds and totally underexpose our the shot, the next minute it'd decide to poke its head out and turn everything blindingly white.

@A@; And then as if that wasn't bad enough, the bumboats passing by caused us to "OMG SHOOT SHOOT SHOOOOOOOOT BOOOOOAAAAAT"

...

The people there must've been wondering, "What are these crazy kids doing?"

Day 18

Today was Mr Shollehlehleh's turn to be in front of camera. xD [Considering all this while he's been the one BEHIND it...]

Sholleh, you are one photogenic retard. XDD

Anyway, we got the scene prepared before our stars, Caleb and Lydia, came. I daresay they must be applauded for being so sporting because they didn't know each other until the very last moment. xD Lydia looked fabulous in her dress and Caleb was very smart. :3

<- Our very lovely stars, Caleb and Lydia! They were really sporting and patient <3>Well, that's it for this entry. D

Day 17.

I have never been so frustrated this much in this project, until now.

It completely slipped my mind that I was going to be interviewed today, and nobody reminded me either. So, I had to go home and change. -.-; It took me about over an hour to GET home, and then another hour to get back to school. Rawr!!!

Then we originally wanted to play a background of animations that we'd done for our schoolwork, and wanted some of the seniors' stuff - due to complications we weren't able to get as many as we wanted and Sholleh was disappointed because it wasn't what he wanted. He didn't really explain how he wanted the animation to be compiled either so...

I received an SMS from Hanes asking me to bring my sketchbooks to school. I was already walking towards the bus-stop when I got it so I admit I swore quite a bit because I had to walk back. >__>;;

Anyway when I got there they'd decided to use images from my deviantART gallery and my sketchbooks to make a sort of "wallpaper" as a backdrop for my interview. Well...I think I have like over 600 images there so...happy choosing. xD

My group members also asked me to draw some images on the lightbox. I can safely say: I WANT ONE OF THESE AT HOME!!! TAT!! How much does one cost? 8D

I drew a simple four-frame blink sequence [I personally prefer four frames instead of three since it looks much smoother] on the light box while they taped the process.

Hanes and Betty with the picture wall of dooooooom!
Anyway my segment went smoother than I thought, but my nonsensical babbling got caught on tape. ;A; Nooooooooooooooes.
We managed to wrap up at around 9.30pm, and I left the lab at 10pm. 8D;

Day 16

Today was prop preperation. We needed to set up the TV studio for the shoot on Wednesday, so I was asked to bring along an empty wine bottle. Hanes brought some candles and a really lovely candlestick, and the only things missing were our table cloths.

We had a tutorial by our senior, Tom, on the usage of the different lights. Today was really light; apart from the tutorial, we didn't really do much.

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Day 15

Today was not...so productive. We had our usual routine discussions, and I couldn't stay with the rest of the group because I had to run to collect my salary from work; so I left my hard-drive with them to upload the footage. We did, however, settle on obtaining a DSLR for Betty's shoot.

Day 14

Today was Hui Qin's turned to be filmed~ we went to Mrs Glenn's studio at Stamford House. Boy, was it good to see Mrs Glenn again after so long :3 She's such a sweet lady and a wonderful artist too.

We requested she draw Hui Qin for our video and she agreed to it :D She did an awesome job as you can see <3

We set up clay works from our school as the backdrop and told Mrs Glenn we'd replace all her cute knick-knacks as soon as we were done. To make sure we got everything correct we took photos of the shelves before we removed her items. xD

While we were shooting, we discovered the tapes were buggy. DDD: It corrupted one of our cameras and we ended up being able to only use one. ._. Note to self: Always bring out cleaning tapes.

Then, we stepped out for a break while the artists for the evening's life drawing session began to fill in. The live drawing involved a nude model, so there was a bit of awkwardness on deciding who was going to go in to shoot/photograph footage.

In the end, me and Hanes went in and we had to walk as if we were on eggshells because you could hear a pin drop in the room. Some of the artists there produced amazing work in the short fifteen minutes the model posed for every interval.

Day 13

Today, it's Hanes's turn to be interviewed. We went up to the Mac lab on level 6 which was really empty.

Her interview was about Digital Media fundamentals. After Sho set up the camera, Betty got the digital cam and started taking photos of us "working". :P [Hey, Photo Booth is fun okay ._.]

Anyway, Hanes started off a little nervous, but towards the end she started warming up pretty quickly.

It's not easy, I guess, being in front of a video camera.

But we had fun nontheless (:

Day 12

Today was the first day of our shoot :D

We went to MindsCafe and filmed some footage along the way. ^3^

We were really hungry when we got there, so we ordered some food. While we were waiting we played Jenga, and gosh my hand shook so much when I tried to remove the blocks. D8

Sho toppled the first round of Jenga xD We were going to play another round, but then teh food arrived x3

We had the cameras running the whole time, so I'm sure some silly behaviour got captured on film. xD

UglyUgly was a card-game very much like "Snap" and man, was it violent. If you watch the footage you can see everytime one of us yells "Ugly ugly!" and smacks the table, there's camera-shake. xD; It was fun though, but I backed out after a couple of rounds because the excitement was a little too much. xD; Sho got a little slap happy though. :x

But, we had much fun. <3

Day 10

Happy Valentines' Day everybody \o/
We didn't really manage to accomplish much in the way of projectwork but we DID get alot of the preliminary planning in stone.
We needed a crew for the Video Fundamentals backdrop, as well as a bunch of props, among them food as well as roses [XD] and candles. Why roses and candles?
Our backdrop is a romantic scene being "filmed" 83 We even have actors for it. xDD

Day 9

Today was recce day! It did feel like we were tourists, travelling all over Singapore. xD

The first place we went to was Stamford House, to visit Mrs Glenn at her studio. The wooden floor was freezing cold because we had to take our shoes off when we went in. The ambience of the place was pretty nice, and we took a few photos as well as discussed angles and the deco we'd use for the shelves behind. We asked Mrs Glenn if she could help us during our video by sketching a portrait of Hui Qin while we filmed. She agreed and told us to notify her when we were coming down. I also asked if we could film their life drawing sessions, and Mrs Glenn said that she'd get back to us, but she didn't think there'd be any issues.

After that, we headed to Shenton Way to visit a place called 77 Star, which specialized in providing courses like voice-acting, drawing manga and animation. We spoke to the representative [his lack of English understanding and our lack of Japanese made communication a little hard, but he was so sweet about it so it was all good =D] to ask if we could make use of their drawing studio - then he told us they didn't have a studio.

@A@?!

Turns out they conduct all their lessons in their conference room. >< They don't have the proper facilities as of yet; only in March when our project will be over. xDDD;;;

Irregardless, we thanked him and left.

After that, everyone else wanted to go to Clarke Quay, but I had to get home to finish some work and stuff. .__.

Uploading photos later~

Day 8

Today was another day of idea finalization. We'd decided on the following modules:
i. Digital Media Fundamentals [Hanes =3]
ii. Drawing Essentials [Hui Qin ;x]
iii. Fundamentals of Digital Photography [Bet-Bet. xD]
iv. Animation Fundamentals [Me!]
v. Video Fundamentals [Shollahlahlah. xD]

Then we began to throw out ideas on where we'd film them.
- Chateau D'Arts, for Drawing Essentials
- Mac Lab @ level 6 for DM Fun
- 2D Studio/Design Space/77 Star for Anim Fun
- Clarke Quay/Little India for Photography
- TV Studio for Video.

Day 7.

Kay. At this juncture, I think we really have got to stop throwing ideas around and work on finalizing what we already have instead of brainstorming more, because we aren't exactly getting anywhere.

I brought this up to my group and we kinda waffled around with it for a while, because Sho thought our concept wasn't anything "wow", to quote him.

We decided it wasn't really worth debating on, and went to recce the places we needed for our shoot, since those were pretty much confirmed:

1. TV Studio
2. Sound Room
3. 2D Studio

Day 6.

SchizoCheese Productions is proud to present our group mascots, Annie and Vick!

xD Darnit. I was up till 3am sketching/inking/colouring the images for our Powerpoint; I hope everyone who saw them during presentation today liked it~
[Tho it made me sick AGAIN ._.]

Ronald told one of our classmates, Nafisah, to pick a number from 1~4. So she did - and we got called up first. DX

At the end of our presentation, Ronald looked slightly exasperated about our "anyone can go to MOI" thing so we stepped in to further elaborate after he still looked confused when Sho tried to explain it to him.

I think most of the other groups had very interesting ideas. Then after that, one of us brought up the fact that the lecturers were being very inconsistent with what we were supposed to do, so Ronald said he'd have a discussion with them.

I have NO idea how to integrate 2nd or 3rd year work into our video. Mweh.

Day 5.

...Thank you, dear Murphy.

Not only am I flaming SICK again, I've lost my voice too.

@#$^&*(^&*()@@#$%^&

There is no God. ;____;

I dragged myself out of bed at 7am today to get to school for our group meeting. @.@ Meet Sho on the way up.

Once there, we got to work.

Discussion Topics:

- Finalisation of theme and working title; theme is "Many Lives, One Dream" and title is "Seeds of Aspiration".

- Designed our mascots, Annie [female] and Vick [male].

After that, we went down for lunch, and then got to class.

And shazam, t'was an Alfie!

I'm getting uberly confused. This switching of lecturers is really throwing us off; one says ok, another goes NO DO SUMTHIN ELSE and another says YET another thing.

Anyway, Alfie popped in for about five minutes and gave us a briefing on our project, then told us he'd be in the next class if we needed help. Raymond asked questions about the limitations.

Quoted from Hanes' blog:
"So Alfie explained that the 2minutes per person was like a guideline or the maximum number of minutes that we have to take per person, therefore we could do lesser then 2minutes if we want to."

After Alfie left, we headed to the 2D animation room to start doing our powerpoint slides. I, unfortunately, didn't get too far because my eyes were starting to burn and my head started to hurt pretty badly.
